“Extensive and Unbroken- the Great Wall’s long name.”

It’s been two days since I have walked the Great Wall. It’s still a little painful walking up stairs, but I will live. Walking the Great Wall was such a feat. I am so proud of myself. One of the things I want to accomplish before I die is visiting all of the Seven Wonders of the World. So happy I finally started. I have the Great Wall checked off my bucket list.

The Wall is steep. Very steep. It requires a lot of muscles. I don’t know what I expected, but I for sure did not expect how hard it was. There are multiple starting points for the wall. It is huge. The Great Wall is 13,170.696 mi. Now obviously I did not walk the entire thing, but my fit bit did its shakey thing when you walk 10,000 steps on my way down. So I walked at the very least 9,000 steps. (because obviously I walked to get there and when I woke up).

The Great Wall was first build during the Qin Dynasty. It was built as a defense to fend of invaders from the north. Several people have rebuilt and modified it over about 2,000 years. When it was first built they used sticky rice to glue the bricks together and that last several hundred years.

Though this was so hard and there were moments where I just wanted to quit. I am glad I did not give up. As a larger person, the reality is some things are just harder for me to do. But I try my hardest to push through. And that’s just a skill to carry on in life in every field. Just keep going and pushing through. It may be difficult, but what’s waiting for you on the other side is so worth the journey.
