Follow the Yellow Brick Road

In light the of the devastation that hit Western NC I want to share a link to how you can help. This is a post from Beech Mountain resort explaining what’s going on with links to ways you can help. Click HERE
Last weekend at the last hour available my friends and I followed the windy road of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina all the way to the Land of Oz! Believe it or not I had never seen the Wizard of Oz. So the night before with kettle corn my friends and I sat down and watched it for the first time. I was thrown off with the black and white, but was completely mesmerized when the color of Munchkin land came on the screen. All in all it was a great movie with a sweet message. I understand why it is a timeless classic. But you don’t want to hear about the movie. You want to hear about the land of Oz. Okay here are some tips for your next trip.

The Land of Oz is only open 3 weekends of the year. And you have to register specific times during the day. They have a max of tickets for each time slot. The slots fill up pretty fast. HERE
It is also in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It takes some time to get there and the roads are winding. If you get car sick heads up.
I would dress in theme as much as possible. It’s just more fun that way. You don’t have to dress in character, but I mean bright colors, the color green are all fun. I got many compliments on my look even from one of the members of Oz. This is what I wore. I linked it HERE from my LTK.
It’s a lot of walking uphill. Wear comfortable shoes.
It’s essentially the movie and all of the musical numbers. Be prepared to sing and dance.
I would bring 5+ year olds. Like mentioned previously, it was a lot of walking. It can also take about 3 hours to get through the experience. I saw some of the younger children getting tired and cranky.
There isn’t food, food until the end. Either bring snacks or eat ahead of time. In Kansas, where we began there was really good homemade lemonade.
This was a lovely experience. I would recommend grabbing your pals and following the yellow brick road.
Carpe diem,
Mal
